“We have a new team in the research department, and they haven’t really been together for too long. We wanted to find something so that we could get the team to really interact together. Our goals were to build and grow as a team.”

The goal. Ionis Pharmaceuticals wanted to create a team environment for a newly formed research team. Since the group was relatively new, they were looking for ways to break the ice, a way to get the team to get to know each other better. So what better way to break the ice, than with a fun and interactive team-building activity like a SpyGame Adventure! They contacted us, and we got to work.
The SpyGame AdVenture took place in the Carlsbad Village. Carlsbad is a beach city located in North San Diego County, and it’s also the headquarters of Ionis Pharmaceuticals. We split the researchers up into teams so that they could not only collaborate with each other but also compete against one another. The teams had to get out of their comfort zone. And, by the looks on their faces, they were super excited to play the game too. Everyone got into it! It really challenged the participants’ skills. Strategizing, cooperating, and thinking on their feet sure got everyone together.
The research department had a blast working together to solve a series of challenges, puzzles, and overcome obstacles. It was a race against the clock to rescue a hostage and take down a notorious crime syndicate. Yes, the SpyGame adventure is an action-packed game of espionage! In the end, everyone in the research department was able to work towards a common goal. It was an excellent way for this newly formed department to break the ice.
“The researchers loved the humor of the game and the lighthearted nature of the AdVenture Games, Inc. staff. They really loved the kidnapping video, and Agent 6 and Agent 9 were favorites. Everyone loved all the different personalities. “
