It’s like The Amazing Race, with a twist! The Executive Challenge moves through an urban setting and pits teams against one another to complete physical and mental challenges. From the practical to the ridiculous, the Executive Challenge will test team members’ creativity, business savvy, tech knowledge, and people skills. This is a great activity for breaking the ice and building team cohesion.
How does it work?
Teams head out in search of the challenge locations. The game has no set course. After downloading a course map to their smartphone team members must strategize the best way to get from challenge to challenge, in order to maximize efficiency and earn the most points. Once the team arrives at a challenge site, a Challenger from our staff will announce the task. A full menu of challenge activities is available to best suit your team.
Caution: Detour Ahead!
Just when the team members think they’ve mastered the terms of the game, whoosh! Here comes a curve-ball. Along the way, teams will be presented with the opportunity to partake in additional challenges in order to earn additional points. These surprise challenges create classic risk/reward situations, and could be the difference between first and second place. Team members must make smart decisions, weighing the potential gains of a curve-ball challenge against the time, energy, and risk involved.
It’s Not Over Yet…
When the teams have completed all of the challenges, they are greeted by the Game Keeper who’ll present one final challenge. Teams will be faced with the ultimate, game-altering question: Do they risk everything they have earned on this final challenge, or do they play it safe?
Once the final challenge is competed, all teams gather for the closing ceremonies. If desired, the ceremonies can feature playback of the top teams’ videos to help determine the final winner. Participants will be oohing, ahing, and rolling on the floor with laughter as they watch together to see how the winning team earned the gold.
Keys to Success
Sure, being quick and efficient is important, but the team that wins The Executive Challenge is not necessarily the team to finish first. The game values the same skills that are crucial for workplace success: sound strategy, savvy risk assessment, and rock-solid teamwork. It’s the team that’s strongest in those skills that will be victorious.
The Executive Challenge engages participants’ strategic planning and interpersonal communication skills in a fun, high-energy atmosphere. Plotting the course for maximum efficiency is a great hands-on strategic planning experience. Participants hone their creativity and time-management acumen as they work together to meet the demands of each challenge, and get a real-time lesson in the challenges and benefits of collaborating under pressure. And to top it all off, they practice risk assessment, as they consider the perils and benefits of going for broke in the final challenge.
